The previous website for B&DFL was very text heavy and visitors found it difficult to find any information quickly. It was also very hard to tell what the company actually did! My initial worry was the company name itself. To change the name of the company is usually well out of the remit of the website designer, but I felt their original name of B&DFL was hard to remember and had no connection with food. Amazingly they agreed! so the company has been rebranded BD Foods.
I felt it was vital to get a very early indication of what they do, plus a fast way to get to the information needed. So the visual menu of spoon icons along the top represent each of their product categories. Clicking on any of these takes the visitor to a list of the products plus a new food photograph showing the product used in a recipe.
To give a selection of examples and to increase the Google hits, I combined two separate pages; Clients and Case Histories to make a single page with lots of links for Google, plus a series of interesting stories explaining how BD Foods has worked with each of their clients.
The Contact Us page shows my portrait photographs of all the managers, each wearing their compulsory hairnet! The page has a touch of humour by using roll-overs to reveal them without their headwear. For other behind the scenes information see my news blog.
