Website Design for Capital Garden ProductsReworking another designer’s work is always a tricky one as you have to spend a lot of time working out how and why they did things. Capital Garden Products’ original site had minimal navigation, meaning you had to keep going back to the home page to go anywhere else. My re-worked version has a simple, distinctive slab of colour down the left hand side which holds all the navigation. Now clicking on any of the products takes you to a detailed page. Clicking on the photo again takes you back to the previous page. Speeding up the navigation process. The news blog also uses the same navigation avoiding the often confusing redirection to a different looking website to read a news blog. With improved SEO, meta tags and dynamic alt tags, this database-driven site is now much more Google-friendly. In a recent update a gallery of their own location photographs has been added to the right hand of each of the category pages. The right hand category text and product text on the website can be updated on the client's own admin pages along with the gallery of location images and captions. I shot all of the product photographs on white. They were either taken in their large warehouse, or here in the studio. They were then cutout and fake shadows added for consistency.
