Website Design for Interior Designer SGS Design
Interior design fashion changes almost as often as clothing, so Sophie Stevens of SGS Design felt after two years her website was due for a clean new look.
This time I took the visual cue from Sophie's latest, more architectural work. The colours have been changed to a more subtle palette of greys, with the ever-popular Farrow and Ball colours for highlighting the testimonials page panels.
Sophie really enjoyed writing her blog before and was often adding photos too, so the new website had to be flexible to allow her creativity to show through again. Sophie can add text and photos in blocks to make up panels of different formats: one large photo, two wide photos, three square photos, or four tall photos. Each strip of photos can be re-ordered as Sophie likes, making the layout very flexible but neatly controlled so all the images align throughout.
The whole website has lots of luxurious white space formed by fixing the menu to the left of the screen then the panel of photos centres across the window. For smaller monitors the panel of photos moves to the left so they can all be seen.
Each of the pages has one large photo at the top, that can be either portrait or landscape, the text and pull-out quotes, then move their positions, to accommodate the new shape photo.
The testimonials page uses a square image alongside a quote from the client. Sophie can choose the background tint by simply adding the six digit web-colour code making lots of lovely tints possible.
